What is Massaging?

Massage is a therapy method that involves rubbing, pressing, and manipulating the skin muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The massage might range from light stroking to deep pressure, depending on the individual’s liking as well as the reason for the massage.

Who should avoid massages?

An individual who struggles with the following:

  • Blood clots & inflammation of the veins
  • Open wounds or rashes in the area of massage
  • Infectious disease
  • Acute Hematoma – internal bleeding or blood trapped in the tissues
  • Any area of the body that is acutely injured or inflamed – other areas might be massaged
  • Intoxication
  • Malignant melanoma
  • Rheumatoid arthritis – no massage around the joints

What to expect?

  • How will it feel?: Pressure depends on your preference for massage or the issue working on.
  • How long?: 30 – 60 mins (depends on the massage chosen)
  • What will you do?: You will lie on the massage bed and relax.
  • What to wear?: Darker clothing so the oils don’t leave a noticeable mark.
  • Clothing that allows for the chosen body part to be massaged.
  • How often?: Every second day (allows the body to recover in between sessions.)

Aftercare

  • Avoid activities that strain the body a lot.
  • Allow yourself to linger in the effects of relaxation.
  • Drink a lot of water.
